I am not sure if I am the only one, but I do miss old Windows 7 style menu in Windows 8. The other day I wanted to see what programs were installed under Visual Studio 11, but I could not figure it out. I accidentally stumbled upon this functionality and wanted to share it.
Go to main Windows screen by hitting Windows key.
Then when metro style menu is shown, hit Windows key + Z to pull up application bar. While we are on the topic, Windows + Z pull up app bar in any application.
Do you see All Apps icon in the lower left corner. You can click on it or just hit Enter key. Then you will see all the icons grouped by installation program, so you can find all programs installed under Visual Studio menu for example.
Enjoy!
